Monitor: Probe

Ping

CommsMundi can check the connection to a remote server executing automatic ICMP request to it. This type of probe allows also to check the link quality by measuring the delay in the connection. In order to add a new probe go to the page Monitor → Probes and click add. Set the probe parameters:

ARPing

Arping is a computer software tool that is used to discover hosts on a computer network. The program tests whether a given IP address is in use on the local network, and can get additional information about the device using that address. In order to add a new probe go to the page Monitor → Probes and click add. Set the probe parameters:

TCP Ping

tcping - simulate “ping” over tcp by establishing a connection to network hosts. In order to add a new probe go to the page Monitor → Probes and click add. Set the probe parameters:

SNMP

Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) is an “Internet-standard protocol for managing devices on IP networks”. Devices that typically support SNMP include routers, switches, servers, workstations, printers, modem racks and more. It is used mostly in network management systems to monitor network-attached devices for conditions that warrant administrative attention.
